The Pergola by the River transports you to another world, one of extraordinary natural beauty, peace, and tranquility. On one side, a Thomas Cole landscape opens to the field and hills beyond, dotted with bold and pastel wildflowers.  On the other side, the Unadilla River floats by.  The Pergola is also where one can walk down to the river to a private beach and board a canoe or kayak for a ride along the river, or simply fly fish from the shore or swim in one of the many swimming "holes" that are 6 to 9 feet deep and just refreshing on a hot day, or skip a seemingly infinite number of rocks.  Some rocks even reveal fossils.  Lots of stone beaches line the river along the almost two miles of river front that The Beardslee Homestead enjoys. Walk to the northern most part of the property with a tube and enjoy the most relaxing lazy river ride back down.  The River Walk and River is a perfect place for a morning walk, an afternoon lunch, an evening glass of wine, or simply just to sit down and read and enjoy nature in its beauty and purity.  The Unadilla River is the sparkling jewel of The Beardslee Homestead!
