Introducing CLEOMAX MARICETM, an Inspired Line of Farm Fragrances, by Masseria

When I was a student in Bologna, Italy in 1995, I volunteered at the famed CosmoProf trade show, one of the largest gatherings of cosmetics and perfume producers in the world. I was struck by two things: 1) the size of the industry, nearly $300 billion now in 2025, with fragrances representing $60 billion of that; and 2) the age of the industry: the ancient Egyptians were among the first people to use perfumes, mostly from plant extracts, nearly 5000 years ago. I was fascinated by the trends in beauty, such as no-aluminum products, and I had hoped to open a line of products for men using extra virgin olive oil as the principal ingredient. Well, investment banking, government service, and classical education intervened, but my love of fragrances remained.
When our family bought The Beardslee Homestead, we started producing all-natural Italian liqueurs from the herbs we grow under our brand Masseria, which in Italian means Homestead. We produce our liqueurs with great passion and love; they are part of our Italian and European heritage: Nocino from Umbria, Limoncello from Sicily, Absinthe from Paris, Lavender from Provence, and Hops Bergamot from Prague and Calabria. Our liqueurs proved very successful at the Hamilton Farmers Market. Then it occurred to me that the same liqueurs that tasted so good would surely make for unique and pleasant heart notes of perfumes and colognes. With our family's love of sustainable agriculture and all-natural ingredients, and my background as a Chemistry major in college, we could create a line of fragrances unique to The Beardslee Homestead that was entirely unique, artisan, all-natural, and sustainable. And CLEOMAX MARICETM Parfum Naturelle by Masseria was born, named after our six children Claudia, Leo, Max, Mary, Ricky, and Cecilia.

All of our Parfums Naturelles are formulated with 100% natural fragrances extracted or macerated from plants that are picked and prepared by hand with great care, other organic essential oils that we purchase, naturally derived New York grain alcohol, and distilled water from our well. Their rich colors are also entirely natural. From deep anice and fennel to sharp black walnut softened by orange; from sweet blackberry sage to robust coffee and cloves, our musk, patchouli, sandalwood, and oud-based colognes and perfumes with floral, citrus, and spice top notes will evoke memories and images of strolling through lemon and lavender groves, hop fields, herb gardens, and vineyards, and even outdoor Christmas markets. They will remind you, also, of the sumptuous glass of amaro liqueur that awaits you when you return home from a hard day's work. Spray our fragrances on in the morning, refresh in the afternoon, and just breathe.
